Book Review for Fearless by Max Lucado

First of all, the title genuinely reflects alot of the things that are happening in our society today.  I expect Max Lucado to use much scripture in his writing and i am pleasantly surprised by the amount he truly adds and the effectiveness of the scripture.  I did enjoy reading this book from the purely practical point of view of someone who has lived with the reality of fear in my life.  The faith that is spoken of in this book reflects what we are commanded to do in scripture and that is trust in Jesus and believe what the Bible tells us about fear.

I also like some of the quotes that Max adds to help me remember how to live.  One of those quotes "Feed your fears and your faith will starve.  Feed your faith and your fears will starve." This is just plain common sense, but with a healthy twist

One of the greatest fears that people have is getting up n front of others and talking.  If we can get past the fear by using the principles that are spelled out in Max’s book, our world will open up and blossom.

I highly recommend that you add this book to your library if you have ever experienced fear in your life.

Day 2 Bible Reading and Study

Day 2 and we are into Psalms a little bit farther. Psalm 28 speaks of the voice of God. I encourage you to go to your Bible and dig in very deep here. A little further along in Psalm

Psalm 29:15-17 speaks to parenting. I see this parenting as whether the children are our own or children in the faith. What do you think

Ps 34:4 I sought the Lord ...and He answered me. And He delivered me from ALL my fears!

drop down to verse 7 The angel of the Lord encamps around those who fear Him

Day 1 Bible Reading

Here is the day 1 reading ... Psalm 1-27 and Proverbs 28.

If you would like to read along, here is the link to Psalm 1 Here is the link to Proverbs 28.

One of the areas that popped out to me happens in Ps 18 verses 46 to 49. God is my Rock and my salvation. O Lord, I will sing praises to your name! Also take a look at Ps 19 verses 12-14. Forgive my hidden faults and keep me from willful sin. then will I be blameless and innocent if great transgression.

Tomorrow we will be looking at Ps 28-49 and Proverbs 29. Check back then and have a blessed evening!

Constant ond Consistant Bible Reading

OK, so I took my kids to Acquire the Fire here in Seattle. Phil Joel was talking about his Bible reading schedule and asked the audience of about 4000 how many have ever read the whole Bible?

Of the 4000, I would say that less than 20 were able to say they have completed reading their Bible. That is a sad state of affairs for a group of people that claim to be born again believers!

The very next day at my church, I was stopped on the way in by my Pastor. He challenged me to read the entire New Testament AND Psalms once a month for a year. That way May 3rd 2009.

I have completed my first month! Praise only be to Jesus!

I will be blogging my progress on a regular basis. If you want to come along let me know and I will be glad to share my schedule with you.

Pastor Hoye's sentence was handed down!

Here is what happened to Pastor Hoye. This article seems to imply that Pastor Hoye is acting in a racist way. I am not at all thinking that but tell me what YOU think!

That anyone in our country should not be allowed. How can we stand by and let this happen? I found this article on http://www.movementforabetteramerica.org/

Pastor Hoye Sentenced to
30 Days and fined $1,130

Rev. Walter Hoye of Berkeley, California was sentenced to 30 days in jail and fined $1,130.00 by Judge Hing of the Alameda Superior Court in Oakland on February 19.

Hoye was found guilty last month of “unlawfully approaching a person entering an abortion clinic in Oakland.” In fact, he had been peacefully carrying a sign reading, “Jesus Loves You! Let Us Help,” and offering women information on alternatives to abortion.

Video evidence offered to the court showed clearly that escorts from the abortion clinic had repeatedly harassed Pastor Hoye by trying to block his sign with blank signs of their own.

The hearing was eventful, and at one point a black pastor who was there to support Pastor Hoye was physically removed from the courtroom.

Dozens of African-American pastors from around the nation were there to support Rev. Hoye. They were outraged by the sentence. They called it “a travesty that Rev. Hoye was found guilty for standing in the gap for black children targeted by the abortion industry.”

“It is absolutely incredible that in America an individual can be sentenced to jail for engaging in peaceful free speech activity on a public sidewalk,” remarked Allison Aranda, Staff Counsel for Life Legal Defense Foundation. Aranda stated that “Rev. Hoye has a legal right to refuse onerous conditions of probation. Rev. Hoye will not and should not agree to give up his free speech rights. We will appeal.”

The court is allowing Hoye to serve his time through community service. However, Judge Hing ordered Hoye to stay away from the clinic. Hoye objected to the stay-away order as a continued violation of his constitutional free speech rights. The judge imposed the order anyway. Hoye may be jailed immediately if he shows up at the clinic.

Rev. Hoye is an African-American pastor who feels called to work for the end of the genocide-by-abortion taking place in the African-American community. An estimated 19 million black babies have been aborted since 1970, according to Dennis Howard, President of the Movement for a Better America.

“That is 7.7 times the African-American population of California," Howard said, "and nearly half (49.6%) of the 2006 African-American population of the entire United States. It is also 5,500 times more than all blacks lynched between 1886 and 1968. That is why Pastor Hoye and other black pastors feel an urgent need to speak out against abortion.”

Hoye said: “The silence in the Black American Church regarding the evil of abortion is killing us.”

That’s why he is willing to risk jail by standing in front of an abortion clinic in Oakland with leaflets offering abortion alternatives and a sign reading, “Jesus loves you and your baby. Let us help.”

Meanwhile, Movement for a Better America is calling on all pastors, clergy, bishops, and lay people of all faiths “to join in a nationwide campaign of prayer and fasting to end this persecution of a man of conscience.”

Howard has done extensive research on the economic impact of abortion and its devastating impact on faith communities in the United States.

As an example, he estimates “that there an estimated 24 million Catholics missing because of abortion and the aggressive use of contraception. Plus an estimated 45 million Catholics who no longer attend church regularly. That adds up to a huge loss of faith as well as a huge financial loss. Pastor Hoye is absolutely right when he says ‘the evil of abortion is killing us.’”

Howard was also alone in forecasting the current economic collapse as early as 1997 in a special report that he is currently expanding into a book. For information, see "Can America Survive the Abortion Boom?" on this page.

The 2008 U.S. Statistical Abstract shows 654 abortions for every 1000 live births for Black and other races (a rate of 39.5%), compared to 221 abortions for every 1000 live births for whites (a rate of 18.1%).

According to Howard, “This reflects the targeting of blacks for abortion, the concentration of abortion facilities in poor urban areas, and the active support of abortion by liberal black politicians like Al Sharpton, Jesse Jackson, and Barack Obama.”

Life Legal Defense Director Catherine Short and attorney Mike Millen, who represented Rev. Hoye, are currently challenging the constitutionality of the ordinance on Rev. Hoye’s behalf in federal court. They are hopeful the ordinance will be struck down and Hoye vindicated.

If I call myself a Christian, I must act... NOW

How can we awaken the Christian community from widespread indifference to the 1,370,000 innocent victims whose lives are terminated every year. Why is it that it seems that the Christian community has very little interest in this holocast.

Take a look at these statistics ...

Total number of abortions in the United States since 1973: 50,500,000.
Population of 71 largest U.S. cities: 50,511,700 (2008 projected)
Number of babies aborted each year worldwide -- 50,000,000.
Number of babies aborted throughout the world since World War II:
More than 1.5 billion.
Top 3 countries in number of abortions annually:
1. Red China -- 11,000,000.
2. Former Soviet Union -- 6,000,000.
3. The United States -- 1,370,000.
Highest abortion/birth ratio in the world: The former Soviet Union
(300 abortions for every 100 live births, and declining)
Highest abortion/birth ratio in the United States: Washington, D.C.
(200 abortions for every 100 live births).
Number of Jews killed during the Nazi Holocaust - 6,000,000.
Number of American babies aborted since 9/11 - 8,325,000
Number of American babies aborted during the Clinton presidency: 11,200,000
Projected number of babies aborted during Bush II presidency: 10,900,000
Number of blacks killed by lynching in the U.S. between 1900 and 1959:
1,795 (30 per year).
Number of black babies killed by abortion between 1973 and 2008:
15,148,000 (currently 574,000 per year)

8,440 to 1.

Al Gore’s margin in the popular vote in 2000: +544,683
George W. Bush’s margin in the popular vote in 2004: +3,012,499

Ergo: If it were not for the pro-abortion policies
imposed on the black community
by liberal activists, including black and Democratic leaders,
both Al Gore and John Kerry would have won
landslide victories in 2000 and 2004.

We must pray! As a Christian in my community, I must gather with fellow believers to pray. It must cross the congregational and denominational differences to protect the future of our country. Please don't tell me you don't have time to pray. We don't have time not to pray. It is imperative that we act fast and we act now! I will publish the date, time, and place VERY soon!

Pro-Life Pastor about to be sentenced

Watler HoyeCharlie Butts - OneNewsNow - 2/15/2009 4:10:00 AM

An Oakland, California, pastor could face jail time for expressing his pro-life views.

Pastor Walter Hoye ran into trouble with an abortion clinic while doing an informational picket. Dennis Howard, leader of The Movement for a Better America, believes Hoye is innocent.

"His approach was simply to carry a sign that said 'Jesus Loves You. Can We Help?' and offering those who wanted it some information about alternatives to abortion," Howard explains.

A complaint was filed and Hoye was found guilty in spite of proof to the contrary. "There was a video taken of him doing this, and it shows that he was not harassing anybody," Howard points out. "In fact, he was being harassed by escorts from the abortion clinic."
Dennis Howard (Movement for Better America)
Pastor Hoye faces up to two years in jail and a $4,000 fine. Howard is calling Christians into action. "We feel that pro-life organizations around the country ought to take up this man's cause and pray and fast between now and February 19," he concludes.

That is when Hoye is due to be sentenced.

What do you think about this? I think this is horrible, not right and ridiculous! I thought that we, as American's have a right to free speech.

A little help is all I am asking for

My family runs a crisis pregnancy center and we are having our 3rd annual fund raising banquet. Do you have any interest in helping these young people? If so please let me know. Check out our other blog ... http://www.embracinglifepcc.blogspot.com Thanks and have a great day!
